If I change it so that the client identifies itself with its external IP address* then it gets past phase one but I get a phase 2, "NO-PROPOSAL-CHOSEN" error.The firewall shows nothing in the log about any of these attempted connections.* Although I should note that even if it worked this way it would be no use, since if the connection is restricted to a single, source IP then that doesn't solve the problem. Conversely, when I was connected to the modem on a different port I could get everything working, including VPN.But the thing is, so what? Slap a switch between the firewall and the modem, assign yourself the available IP, and connect to your VPN. We access it using SonicWALL's Global VPN client. It's a VPN connection set up on our firewall, which is a SonicWALL Pro 230. One goes to the Linksys I just plugged in. One goes to the WAN side of the firewall.
